Ampumuza Desire (she/her) began as a social media intern at the Open Environmental Data Project in January 2024. She is an accomplished environmentalist and fervent youth climate activist hailing from Uganda. With a profound passion for environmental advocacy and a knack for crafting engaging digital content, she is dedicated to leveraging the power of social media to effect positive change in the environment.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Geography Studies from Makerere University, Ampumuza has showcased her leadership and commitment to tackling climate change on a global scale. Her extensive background includes active participation in various youth initiatives on climate change, tree planting campaigns, and contributions to organizations such as Policy and the Media Challenge Initiative.
Her expertise spans media events and community engagement, where she advocates for policies aimed at preserving natural resources and fostering sustainable development. Moreover, with her diverse background and unwavering dedication to environmental and social causes, Ampumuza remains a pivotal force for positive change in her community and beyond.
With her experience and proficiency in teaching Geography, she provides invaluable guidance to students on climate and environmental conservation, solidifying her role as an advocate for environmental maintenance and climate management.
